Christmas

A Xmas picture today. GIMP processed. Duplicate the picture as a new layer. Desaturate the new layer. With the "rubber" tool make the suite of the Santa Claus transparent in the desaturated layer, so that the original color of the underlying layer will pass through the B/W layer.

A difficult shot

Please, appreciate the patience and the smartness of this shot. The trick: during sunny winter days, rarely it may happens to meet a fly (ok, very ugly subject in some sense). Usually is very difficult to get close to them for a good macro. But the cold make them a little bit slower than usual and with some care you can get close enough for a rare (with non professional equipment) shot.
Merry Christmas.
Roberto :)
Hop hop

Another natural life shot. This time no post processing.

Soft Flowers

This picture is an expression of how soft the nature could be :).
It was enhanced using the tutorial you can find in:

By night

A picture of Chicago by night. I'm using GIMP to recover some almost good shots. This one had some disturbing reflections (due to the inner light reflecting on the glass of the window). Those were eliminated and the result is pretty good in my opinion.

Fuel

I'm very tired, I guess I'd need some gas.
One of my passions is image processing techniques and finally I had the time to approach a well known tool named GIMP. I know it since a lot of years (as many other similar programs) but never had the occasion to get familiar with it. Now's the time.
This picture is a two layers image where the subject (the tank) has been processed separately from the background in order to let it pop from the picture.

Fog

I'll try to get out of the fog that is preventing me to put picture in the blog in the past days (too many of them). Unfortunately from my last travel in Athens I could not take a single picture (too many things to do, too little time).

Night at the Falls

In the picture the US part of the Niagara Falls from the Canadian side. I'm not good as Roberto but I think that this nocturnal shot is quite good. Marco
